Year 3 to 8 children should come toSchool at the usual time but wearing formal uniform, please. We will gather, together with all Nursery to year 2 children, at 11 am at Birdsall Church, returninghere for speeches and prizegiving at 12 noon. Our guest speaker this year is HughSpencer, a local historian, former teacher and newly elected councillor fromPickering. Lunch will be available in the gym from about 1 pm and theentertainments will begin at about 1.45. I would expect the marching to concludeproceedings by about 3.30; for this, all children from Year 1 to Year 8 will need withthem a clean pair of white PE shorts and their gym shoes. On Friday afternoon the Staff cricket and rounders matches will be a welcomerespite for all from rehearsals! Also on Friday, we have been invited by a localchildren’s charity to contribute to the entertainment at Ryedale Live! in theevening. This is a concert for and by local children and several of our musicians willbe taking part at Helmsley Arts Centre from 7.30 pm. You are, of course, welcometo attend. Thursday evening has been set aside for cricket and rounders matches between theSchool teams and the parents. First call goes to parents whose children leave usthis time, but please do not hesitate to put yourself forward if you would like to takepart. The captains will be telephoning to amass sides over the next day or so. Weaim to start at 5.30 pm. There will be refreshments available throughout toenhance performance! The Year 8 Leavers’ Dinner will be in the marquee on Wednesday evening and JoScothern will call to ask which members of your family would like to come for thatoccasion. Today has been a fairly normal School day but with the back-drop of the greatChannel Swim going on throughout. A few brave souls were up at 5.30 to give thehead start to allow completion by late this evening. We are currently on scheduleto finish by midnight. All the children have had the chance to take part, swimmingwhatever distance they felt able to.During the day on Friday, all the children will be asked to clear the changing roomsand their classrooms of all their personal belongings. So that they may do thisefficiently and without losing anything, please ensure that they bring a suitable baginto which all of this may be packed.I look forward to seeing you here for an entertaining day on Saturday. Yours sincerely  ______________________________________________________________________________________________________  Woodleigh School Langton Limited – Company No. 2804218Directors: N.J.
