MISSION:HOPEQ U A R T E R LY I M PA C T Quarterly Impact Report Q1 - 2019I NTR O D UC T ION At Mission: Hope we know that you want to see the impact that your generosity is making possible in the ministries you support. In order to do that, you need timely, transparent updates. We believe that you deserve to hear and see what is happening in the places we serve. This is why we created these Quarterly Impact Reports and hold ourselves to a high level of accountability. Please take a few minutes to read through each page of updates from Quarter 1. Don’t miss this opportunity to be inspired and see what you’re making possible in unreached areas around the world!NICARAGUA 7 Villages 360 Families Key Areas of Focus: Church Mobilization H e a l t h & We l l n e s s Food & Agriculture C l e a n Wa t e rWe are excited to announce that after many months of searching and interviews, we hired a local full-time Program Manager to oversee everything happening in the villages up-river. Carlos is a great addition to our field staff. He will ensure even more success and impact with the families we serve! We continue to provide access to medical care and medicines up-river. This quarter our doctor treated 232 patients and distributed 980 medications for individuals that would not have received care. For the first time ever, the villages up-river now have access to dental care! This quarter, our dentist has provided care to 52 individuals - the first time they’ve ever seen a dentist! For World Water Day in March, we were able to raise the needed funds to install a water catchment system to provide access to clean water for the school in Kansas City, Nicaragua!Quarterly Impact ReportInsert a caption or description here Insert a caption or description hereQuarter 1DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2 Villages 100 Families Key Areas of Focus: Church Mobilization H e a l t h & We l l n e s s Food & Agriculture EducationThis quarter has been very exciting for us in the Dominican Republic! We launched a program in the Hato Mayor region to reach a group of unreached villages. This region is one of the poorest areas in the Dominican Republic where pastors are in great need of training and empowerment, local farmers seek help to learn new best practices, there is no access to healthcare and limited access to the Gospel. We’ve hired our local Program Manager, Jhonnathan, to oversee the program and lead our local staff. We also moved onto a donated piece of land where we will have a Transformation Center to serve as a basecamp for our staff, community shelter during hurricanes, and training site for pastors. Another function on this land will be a five acre agriculture test plot where we will teach farming best practices. We also finished building a greenhouse where we can provide plants/crops to farmers that aren’t typically found in this area.Insert a caption or Insert a caption description here or description hereHOPE THAT LASTS Quarterly Impact ReportQuarter 1BALI 6 Villages 350 Families Key Areas of Focus: Church Mobilization H e a l t h & We l l n e s s Food & Agriculture H u m a n Tr a f f i c k i n gOur work in Bali, Indonesia continues to amaze us! We’ve seen great impact over the first quarter of 2019 in numerous areas. Our goal was to have 100 families participate in our F.A.I.T.H (Food Always In The Home) training and we’ve had 165 families participate. More than 65 of these families have already started their own gardens at their homes, applying the things they’ve learned! 140 moms and their children have been trained on the dangers of human trafficking predators who come into their villages promising these families money to give their young children a job in the city! A key to the sustainability of our programs in Bali is buy-in from the local government. This quarter we’ve seen four government agencies show their support and participation of our projects and programs!Insert a caption or description hereHOPE THAT LASTS Quarterly Impact ReportQuarter 1PAPUA 7 Villages 270 Families Key Areas of Focus: Church Mobilization H e a l t h & We l l n e s s Food & Agriculture Financial Stability1 out of 8 children die before the age of 5 in Papua from malnutrition and preventable diseases. We’ve seen preventable diseases decrease and 100% of the children in our Mother & Child Health program have gained weight this quarter! We just completed a training with over 26 pastors in Papua. These pastors participated in several formal trainings equipping them to serve the vulnerable in their villages, how to write and preach better sermons, how to work with families in their villages who are practicing occultism, and lastly how to witness to and love their Muslim neighbors. Some highlights from this group of pastors and from previous trainings include seeing one pastor’s church go from ten members to over 100 unchurched people, people of other faiths beginning to walk with Jesus, and 19 trained believers mobilized to reach 150 families with contextual sermons, biblical values, F.A.I.T.H. gardens, and mother & child health trainings. We also celebrated the opening of our Transformation Center that will serve as a basecamp of operations for our staff, a training center for pastors, an agriculture test plot, and refuge for street children!Quarterly Impact ReportInsert a caption or Insert a caption here or description description hereQuarter 1LOMBOK 4 Villages 200 Families Key Areas of Focus: H e a l t h & We l l n e s s Disaster Resilience Food & Agriculture Financial StabilityLombok, Indonesia was struck with multiple earthquakes in August of last year causing catastrophic devastation to remote villages in the northwest. We stepped in to help with relief efforts and helped over 1,200 families. We continue to help these families rebuild their homes and lives. During this quarter in Lombok, we shifted our focus from recovery and relief efforts after the earthquakes to our unique program to bring about long-term, sustainable transformation. We also hired three staff members to facilitate different aspects of our program. They identified four of the most vulnerable villages where we have started our work within the Areas of Focus shown above. Our team has also built great relationships with the government and leaders in these four villages, which led to a lot of excitement about things to come!Insert a caption or Insert a caption description here or description hereHOPE THAT LASTS Quarterly Impact ReportQuarter 1MEASURED RESULTS CLEAN WATER CLEAN WATERThis is just sample textGoalWATER ACCESSThis is just sample textGoalCLEAN WATER USAGEThis is just sample textGoalThis is just sample textGoalThis is just sample textGoalClean water sources available - considered complete at 4 wells75 Up 75%Clean water sources available - considered complete at 4 wells%LATRINE USAGEClean water sources available - considered complete at 4 wellsWASH TRAININGClean water sources available - considered complete at 4 wellsWASH PRACTICEClean water sources available - considered complete at 4 wellsAnother great way to see the impact you’ve made possible is through our Mission Metrics.
