       HVACR ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY BS Instruction is aimed at developing expertise in system and controls design, retrofitting,testing and adjusting, system balancing, and building operations with microcomputercontrols. Learn up-to-date methods of identifying and performing efficiency evaluationson different types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems found incommercial and industrial buildings. You will also learn methods of adjusting andbalancing equipment for maximum performance. Note: There is an online orientation component in July prior to the start of this program,and a five-day on-campus laboratory session during the second summer.   Location:  Online Greetings!We are pleased that you are interested in applying for the Bachelor of Science in Heating,Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Engineering Technology. The next rotation of courses will begin for our ninth group of students in July, 2010. Included with this packet is theschedule of HVACR courses to be delivered online. In addition to the regular courses, there is amandatory online orientation. There are ten upper division courses in this baccalaureateprogram, two of which are labs that require attendance on the Ferris campus in Big Rapids,Michigan. We schedule these two lab experiences to be held together for five days (Wednesdaythrough Sunday) during the summer of 2011, and they are typically the first week in August.To complete the degree, you may need to take additional general education coursework to fulfill Ferris’ graduation requirements. These courses are typically available at your localcommunity college or online through Ferris. Application deadline for the HVACR online programis June 1, 2010 and all materials must be received by June 21, 2010. We encourage you to sendin your application materials as soon as possible so that yourtranscripts can be evaluated andyour curriculum plan developed. This plan will come from your advisor and will providestrategies for you to complete any additional required general education coursework. Also,there is a mandatory online orientation which begins Monday, July 19, 2010 so you must beadmitted and registered prior to Monday, July 19, 2010 in order to participate in theorientation. More detailed information on the orientation will be emailed to you after you areadmitted to the program. To apply go to cpts.ferris.edu/apply and follow the instructions. To be considered for admission, applicants must first:    ã Completed an associate degree program in refrigeration, heating and air conditioning (orequivalent) from any accredited college or university with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher. ã Have completed college level intermediate algebra, two semesters of English and a laboratoryscience course (preferably physics) with a grade of C or better. ã Have computer competency (demonstrated skill with word processing, spreadsheets and PowerPoint). ã Have access to a high -speed (i.e. DSL, Cable) Internet connection. In addition to the application you will need to have official transcripts from all colleges and universitiesyou have attended sent to Ferris State University, 1201 S. State Street, CSS 201, Big Rapids, MI 49307.
